Inside Buffalo Schools: Drugs, Violence, and Missing Evidence with Angry Cops
On a recent episode of The Financial Guys Podcast, we welcomed Richard Hy, a 13-year veteran of the Buffalo Police Department and well-known social media figure known as “Angry Cops.” In a powerful 25-minute interview titled “Inside Buffalo Schools: Drugs, Danger & Deleted Evidence (ft. Angry Cops)”, Hy shares disturbing firsthand accounts and serious allegations about misconduct and systemic failure within the Buffalo Public School system.
While we are not the first to hear these claims, the quiet response from local media—coupled with the gravity of what Hy reveals—compelled us to bring greater awareness to this story.
Hy, who served in the department’s Special Victims Unit, outlines cases where mandated reporting protocols were allegedly ignored, and district officials allegedly engaged in obstruction tactics, including deleting security footage, downplaying police reports, and resisting lawful subpoenas. He claims these actions were part of a larger effort to protect the school system’s image at the expense of student safety.
“They deleted the video—intentionally. Not a system overwrite. A deliberate deletion,” Hy stated.
Among the troubling incidents described:
-
-
- Reports of attempted student abductions being quietly dismissed.
- THC-laced gummies allegedly distributed by a teacher during class.
- A school counselor who failed to report abuse on three separate occasions, yet remains employed.
- Police records showing over 17,000 calls from within Buffalo schools since September 2021—many of which, Hy claims, are misclassified to avoid scrutiny.
-
One case in particular highlights how internal documentation does not always reflect the seriousness of what occurred. When two students ingested THC gummies on April 1st, records obtained through a FOIL request showed the call logged as a generic “school other” rather than a narcotics incident—despite the teacher being placed on leave. This isn’t just about one bad actor. It reflects a broader system that appears to prioritize image over integrity—at the expense of vulnerable children.
The police report above is from another particularly chilling case involving a school counselor who failed to report abuse—not once, but three separate times. Only after a child showed up bruised and beaten was the student finally removed from their home. Even more alarming, that counselor is still working in the school. Adding insult to injury, Rich reveals that school officials are refusing to comply with subpoenas issued by judges—specifically to turn over evidence related to child safety cases
Community Silence, Institutional Deflection
Rather than prompting transparency, Hy’s revelations have instead triggered media attacks aimed at discrediting him, focusing on his personal record rather than the safety issues he raised. This response, we believe, only reinforces the need for independent scrutiny and public awareness.
Buffalo Public Schools have since announced the launch of a third-party investigation—but questions remain about who will be held accountable, and how deep this alleged culture of concealment truly goes.
What Can You Do? Take Action.
