Experience/Career
Raised in Elma, Jay graduated from Iroquois High School. Subsequently, he attended Ohio State University where he received a BA in Aviation. Upon graduation, Jay was commissioned in the United States Air Force as a Space Operations Officer. Jay’s career operating space & terrestrial based spy resources took him on assignments worldwide.
In 1990, at the rank of Captain, Jay had his last Air Force assignment at Peterson AFB Colorado. Jay’s final duty put him in charge of a $42 million radar contract acquisition which is when he developed an acute interest in finance. In 1992, Jay separated from the Air Force and started several businesses including a consulting business. His franchise operation earned highest per capita sales 2 years in a row and Jay was promoted to Western Regional Manager of Operations. Jay sold his equity position in his franchise in 1998, and turned his attention to the Financial Services industry.
He was then offered a position at Texas Planning Associates – an estate-planning firm in Houston, Texas. After leaving Texas, Jay returned home to accept a position at The Compass Group – New England Financial where he was quickly promoted to General Manager of Sales & Development. His duties included supervising sales of over 70 agents and directing the Strategic Alliance Department. Jay worked with agents in forming synergistic relationships with accountants, attorneys, property & casualty agents, and payroll companies.
Family/Interests
In his free time, Jay enjoys the outdoors. He likes to shoot archery, and as a gym rat, enjoys running and lifting weights. His current obsession with biking led him to enter and finish the 4,200 mile Trans Am Bike Race in 2016. In addition, Jay was able to raise over $25,000 for widows of American soldiers by completing the race. Jay has two children, Isabelle and Gabriel and currently resides in Darien Center, NY.
